Why hire an Interior Designer?

Design by Rosa B Interiors

1. Hiring an Interior Designer can save you money.

By hiring a designer you get to achieve your room goals the first time around. There are not many worries about buying too much paint, having a sofa that’s too small or too large for your space, or buying pieces that just don’t complement each other.

Designers have access to and knowledge about different retailers. Therefore, we are likely to find you a better deal, great quality, and sometimes even custom and exclusive finds.

2. Budgeting and Planning are managed.

When shopping, sometimes we all quickly forget about our budget because we aren’t typically calculating everything we purchased. Especially if it’s not within the same day ( we should but that’s a different discussion).

Knowing where to splurge and where to find an alternative that will still complement the space, all while trying not to go over the budget. It can become a headache but we take care of it.

3. You remain sane

Yes. Having a vision and not being able to execute it correctly will drive you crazy. It stresses you out, but the good thing is there’s the option of a hands-off service (my absolute fave). Although, if you are a person that likes to be involved, all you have to do is give your idea and the designer does all the work for you.

4. The results are A-MAZINGG!

The finishing design is always stunning and you’ve just added value to your home, property, or business. If you hire a designer, you can always tell because we have a trained eye that gives it an extra WOW. It’s sort of like walking into this never seen magical place. You knew it would look good but not THIS good.

The Start of Styling Your Console Table 101

First impression and making it unforgettable is important. This is why designers pay soo much attention to styling these areas. Whether it be a console table, entry table, or just a nice lounge area. It is actually a really easy and cool way to add some personality into your space. The goal is of course to add things that are going to be functional and stylish. As a designer, I want to make this easy for others to do and achieve the look you want. If you’re anything like me, I love to switch things up here and there as my style changes or even when the season change. Most of the time it’s just because I get the urge to and I’m bored.

The first step is figuring out what your usage for the console table will be. Do you need extra storage ? Do you need extra seating? Need a place to drop your keys and mail? Check yourself out before leaving out the door? These are all things to consider when choosing your console/ entryway table. If you’re just into the aesthetic and the look, go for what matches your style and find some inspiration online and around your home.

The best-styled console tables either have a statement piece of art above them or an awesome mirror. Find something that will captivate your attention and draw in all eyes. Think about the conversations your art can start when you have guests over or how many times, you’ll look at yourself in your mirror coming in and out. I’m 50/50 with what I like. I choose art because it’s pretty to look at, can add color, has more personality, and is intriguing. Then we have mirrors that can be for glam. Being able to view yourself going out of the door is important itself.

Now when it comes to actually styling the surface, you want to be intentional. It is important to avoid just placing things and having them spaced out. The objective is to have decor that can be functional in holding smaller items, add light, be pretty and not look cluttered. In order to achieve this look, a tip is to group things together. Ways to do this are by adding a tray or bowl and sitting a candle on it, a decorative object, or laying down your keys. Books, trays, plants, vases, lamps, and decor are great things to add. Try to get different shapes and sizes.

Depending on the base you chose, you can add ottomans, leave it bare or add something like a basket for storage. Adding a floor plant in this area also works out perfectly.

How you decide to arrange your console table will say a lot about your home and introduce your style. Accessorizing your home can also be tough but ill be sure to include that next for you. For more tips or directions, check out my Instagram, I post inspiration daily on my story.

Make a Statement for Less

It all begins with an idea.

Um just hire a designer lol JK

We know hiring a designer can be out of some of our budget or just a process because you have to trust us, get to know us, you may not know when to hire one or you don’t really feel it’s a priority. I get it. I’ll get into all of that in a later blog. For now, let’s start off with how you can start to create or think about how you can make a statement in your home using what you have and on a budget.

One thing to think about is the wall colors. Yes, picking a paint or even wallpaper can take any space to a higher level. As a designer, it’s a process in itself when it comes to picking a paint color. The good thing is you can paint over it and change it. An important tip and step would be to get paint samples. Paint a small section of the area, live with it for a few days or even purchase peel and stick paint samples.

Below I designed this simple modern and chic sitting area. Very simple but stands out. I went will a black wall, a nice accent bench, and abstract line art. With just these three pieces and a black accent wall, I achieved this aesthetically pleasing area in my client’s home without having to do too much and you can achieve something similar.

Here are the steps:

  1. Figure out your design style. There are many different quizzes you can take to figure this out, or even just do a normal search on Pinterest to see what you love.

  2. Look around your home and find some things you have already to save money and maybe even do a fun DIY with. This can be really fun to do.

  3. After you know what your design style is, began to carefully look for a nice tall plant ( I love plants in the home, any and everywhere . Faux or real ) art, and one piece of statement furniture. That can be a chair, ottoman bench, console table, etc...

  4. Now here’s the hard part but the most important part that I’ve mentioned. Go out and look for different paint colors, or wallpaper samples before ordering or making a purchase. It’s good to see what it looks like in person.

  5. After all of your selections are made, put it together and enjoy your new space. Take photos, and become more inspired in your home. A nice designed space brings you comfort, inspiration and I believe a new outlook on different things.

  6. This isn’t really the last step but be mindful that this takes time. Do not rush and make a commitment to the first piece you find, have more than one option, and then decide.

Share your finished designs with me on Instagram and hashtag #rosabinteriors. I look forward to seeing what you guys create.
